Ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling

The six of us were on a day cruise off Bodrum, Turkey in the Aegean Sea.  We’d been lounging on deep blue mats soaking up the warm sun, enjoying the sea breezes, lulled into a deep calm.  Totally relaxed.

Faintly, there was a familiar sound.

What were we hearing?

No, it can’t be!

The sound rose up from our childhood memories.  An ice cream truck!

But we’re out on the Aegean, far from shore.   We all sit up looking around and see what appears to be a mirage:  a little ice cream boat chugging towards us selling Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. Ding-a-ling!
