An important rule of travel: don’t always stick to your plans. We were headed off to a restaurant in the early evening when we rounded the corner and saw the light was perfect for photographing the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya. Click. Click.
Change of plan. We raced off for the rooftop terrace of Seven Hills Hotel, across from the Four Seasons in Sultanahmet. It’s a perfect viewpoint – and obviously known to many – as there were 3 or 4 others up there with cameras, large and small, doing just what we planned to do.
Settled at a table with wine for Joe and hot cocoa for Beth. We took photos until the light faded, then swapped travel stories with a lovely woman from Missouri who had travelled the world. We don’t even remember where we were originally heading but glad we didn’t make it there.
