We go back again and again

Many of our friends vacation at the same place every year.  We ask ourselves, “WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT?”  As a rule, we almost always go to a new destination.  We love to explore, see new places, and walk new trails.  However, rules are made to be broken, and we have broken this one.  We have returned to two places:  three times each to Brooklyn Lake, near Centennial, Wyoming and to Sanibel Island, Florida.

As we planned our cross-country trip, we jumped at the chance to go back for a fourth visit to Sanibel.  What’s the appeal?  This sums it up:

Walking on the beach – with shells and birds

Biking many miles on off-road trails

Kayaking on trails through the mangroves

Eating grouper sandwiches and biking to Pinocchio’s for ice cream

We would love to post the top picture at toemail if you do not mind? http://toemail.wordpress.com

    • Sure just photo shop it to give Joe a narrower waist (just kidding) but just give simpletravelourway the photo credit; thank you for using the photo! — JV

      • You are welcome. We just arrived in Wimberley, TX and got connected to the Internet, looked for the repost on your blog, and enjoyed seeing it. We didn’t know how good reposting feels until now. So, thank you.

  2. ❤ this makes me want to dig out my photos and look at them. Thanks!!

As much as we are now excited about knowing another place to visit and kayak (we’ve heard about Sanibel several times and your recommendation now makes our next paddling destination decision for us), it’s the fond memories of long past ice cream indulgences that trump the deal. Thanks for the pictures!

Tell us what you think, please.
