Do it right

If you’re going to have a 4th of July parade – do it right!  The little town of Mendocino, CA did -with humor, creativity, plenty of color, and many participating groups.  Isn’t that what we want in an Independence Day parade?

IMG_5937DSC05270Our winner for humor – and the biggest surprise for the crowd – was a huge friendly dog with a yellow ball in his mouth.  He towered over the truck that was transporting him.

The truck with the dog pulled up and stopped.  The crowd was excited to get such a good view. The dog’s mechanical back leg slowly lifted and – whoosh! – a light spray of water rained down on the crowd.  The crowd shrieked in surprise and then roared with laughter.

DSC05251Last, as well as first, in the parade were the fire engines – especially poignant this year when 19 fire fighters died trying to control a wildfire in Arizona.
