Really it is. And that is especially true at holiday time.

We can be near or far, but home is where we are. A few years ago the staff at Phnom Penh’s 1-Up Banana Hotel in Cambodia decorated a tree so their guests would have a familiar and warm Christmas.

Another year we braved heavy snow to gather in Portland, Oregon. We’ll always remember that perfect little tree and small wrapped gifts.
A holiday….Surrounded by others wishing us a merry time
…Enjoying the calm of being with friends and family
….Taking time to reflect on all the good we have in our lives and wishing for the world a more peaceful year to come
.…Giving to others less fortunate than we are.
Looking at photos of holidays past brings warm memories.

Several years we have enjoyed the holidays with more traditional decorations at the home of our sister-in-law, Barbara.

A celebration requires good food and company.

A holiday with children is always more special.

…and a snow angel completes our post.
